The OECD assessment of the digital transformation in Latvia (“ Going Digital in Latvia ”) contributed significantly to national policy planning. Cooperation with the OECD has been successful so far, as many bilateral projects have been carried out,” said Mr. Rinkevics.

E. Rinkevics expressed Latvia's support for OECD's work on strengthening climate and democracy ( democracy ). “Latvia is actively participating in the work of the OECD by sharing experience and good practice in the fight against disinformation. Latvia is also actively working on a disinformation agenda within the United Nations. We support the establishment of norms and principles for the management of online platforms, while respecting the fundamental rights of individuals. In this respect, we see an opportunity for synergy between work in the European Union and within the OECD. Latvia also supports further work within the OECD to address issues related to the adaptation of the international tax system to the global realities of the digital economy, which would promote a level playing field for companies,” emphasized Latvian Foreign Minister.

during the meeting, Mr. Rinkevics expressed his conviction that the OECD was a good platform to promote the approach to OECD standards and good practices of the countries of the Eurasian region, particularly Ukraine. “Latvia is a supporter of the enlargement of the OECD. Membership of the OECD is, on the other hand, an important support and “driving force” to carry out the necessary reforms, said E Rinkevics.
