The objectives of the center are to popularize Latvian music, collect and provide information about it in Latvia and the world, coordinate music developments in Latvia among institutions involved in the sector, promote Latvia's inclusion in international cooperation processes, and promote the performance and publication of Latvian music. The Ministry of Culture has delegated the performance of state functions in the music information sector to the LMIC and finances its activities. What does the LMIC do? The LMIC collects, systematizes and provides information about Latvian composers and their work, and about developments in Latvian music. The LMIC promotes the establishment of contacts between interested foreign individuals and organizations with Latvian composers and performing artists, with concert organizations, sheet music publishers and the media. The LMIC ensures the representation of Latvia at international music exhibitions and fairs, publishes CDs and information materials. The LMIC maintains the largest Internet database on Latvian music and musicians.
