TimberMarket, a Latvian digital platform for the timber industry, is expanding its operations in the Baltics and Poland

TimberMarket, a Latvian digital platform for the timber industry, has started exporting its services to the other two Baltic States and Poland. This step marks a new phase in the company’s development as it is expanding its operations and offering a modern trade tool for companies in the industry at an international level.

TimberMarket is the only digital platform in the Baltics specialising in the sale of timber and forestry services. The platform provides the opportunity to publish offers, conclude deals and effectively sell products.

The platform was created by forestry and timber company Revosa which has been active in the market since 2006. TimberMarket serves as a meeting point for the sellers and the buyers in the industry providing an easy-to-use and transparent sales process and prices. Clients can create requests for goods or services in specific regions and these are delivered directly to the e-mails of these companies thus promoting efficient communication and conclusion of agreements. In return, clients receive offers, compare them and come to an agreement with the company of their choice. Clients can also search for companies based on location or other parameters to contact them directly.

“The forestry sector is traditionally quite conservative; however, we want to promote digitalisation and innovation. TimberMarket offers a modern solution for cooperation between market participants and partners,” Gusts Eisaks, Project Manager for the platform, highlights. “This approach is unique in the timber industry, and it opens up new opportunities for the digitalisation of the sector.”

Digitalisation is becoming increasingly important in the industry considering that the European timber market is expected to grow by 5.44% by 2028, while the World Bank has forecasted that global demand for timber will quadruple by 2050. This opens new opportunities for exports for the Baltic timber industry as the region is rich in forest resources, the company notes.

As part of the expansion, TimberMarket has already started negotiations with representatives of the industry in Lithuania and Estonia and is planning to take part in the largest wood processing and furniture manufacturing exhibition in Poland – Wood Tech Warsaw Expo. “Our platform is a digital tool that simplifies the sale of timber and forests. At the same time, it is transparent, provides access to market data and is easy-to-use for forest owners, companies and intermediaries. Exporting the type of service represented by our platform is something unique in this part of Europe,” the company says.

The TimberMarket platform has already become an important tool for almost one thousand companies in Latvia, and it is now continuing to expand and promote innovation and digitalisation in the timber industry in the Baltic region and Poland.
