Mapon raising the bar: a new solution for reading tachographs in collaboration with Volvo and Scania

Latvian technology company Mapon, a Draugiem Group company, is reinforcing its position in the international market by developing innovative digital solutions for the transport and logistics sector. One of the company’s latest creations has been developed in partnership with the world’s leading truck manufacturers Volvo and Scania – an integration for automatic download and analysis of tachograph data.

EU rules require strict monitoring of working and rest time for lorry drivers, and this means that tachograph data needs to be regularly downloaded and stored. The new integration developed by Mapon allows companies using OEM telematics systems to automate this process, reducing the administrative burden and minimising the potential for errors.

“We are adding the missing link – data analysis,” the company explains. “Technically, data download and analysis are two different tasks, and our solution allows customers to focus on what’s important – business efficiency and regulatory compliance.”

Tachogram has been developed as a stand-alone product, available independently of other fleet management solutions. It allows for analysis of driving and rest times, identifying potential violations, educating drivers and avoiding fines. The new partnership with Volvo and Scania means that Tachogram customers will be able to automatically receive tachograph files from OEM telematics systems, while the analysed data will be useful for a variety of purposes, including payroll, timesheets or logistics planning.

30 000 customers around the world already

Mapon has been providing fleet management solutions for almost 20 years – from GPS tracking, video recorders and route planning to fuel monitoring, temperature monitoring, breathalyser integrations and cargo tracking. Such data not only serves as a tool for resolving disputes with insurers or authorities, but also as a tool to protect employees and prevent fraudulent claims.

Mapon solutions are tailored to the needs of different industries, from freight and agriculture to courier services and waste management. Sensors and data analytics can also be used to monitor freight temperatures, the condition of cold stores, the roadworthiness of vehicles and other key indicators that affect service quality and a company’s reputation.
