Latvian company CrossChem opens new AdBlue® factory in Moldova
At the beginning of this year, Latvian chemical manufacturer CrossChem opened the first VDA (Verband der Automobilindustrie) certified AdBlue® factory in Moldova. AdBlue® is a liquid added to diesel fuel to reduce the air pollution created by vehicle engines, i.e., emissions. The factory in Moldova will supply AdBlue® to the local market under the CrossChem brand.
The new CrossChem factory in Moldova was 13 months in the making which included finding appropriate premises in Chișinău and adapting them, accordingly, manufacturing the equipment for the factory in Latvia, delivering and assembling it and obtaining the VDA certificate. Investments in the factory totalled EUR 500 000.
The new factory can produce 1.3 million litres of AdBlue® per month which will cover the whole demand in the Moldavian market. Until now the country depended on imported AdBlue® which often caused supply interruptions and price fluctuations. Local production will not only stabilise the market, it will also provide new jobs and accessibility to environmentally friendly products.
“Up until now Moldova had to rely on imported AdBlue® which caused difficulties and unpredictable deliveries. We are entering this market with a mission to change the situations and lay a stable foundation for the local production of an environmentally friendly product. This factory is not only an investment, it also attests to our faith in the potential of Moldova to become a sustainable regional leader in the production and delivery of chemical products,” Ričards Andersons, Chair of the Board of CrossChem, highlights.

The new factory was accredited by an experienced VDA auditor from the Netherlands – Paul Burger who has been actively involved in AdBlue® trademark protection and quality control since 2004. The audit rated CrossChem with 96.5% thus attesting to its unwaveringly high level of quality.
