More efficient management and digitisation: CTB developing using state support tools

CTB is a key market player in road construction in the Kurzeme region, it has been constructing and maintaining roads for more than 27 years, has implemented over 1500 projects and provides services to state and municipal entities as well as private customers. The company has a modern fleet of equipment and its own asphalt concrete production plant in Liepāja, which allows it to maintain high quality standards and independence from external suppliers.
Cooperation with the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) has been particularly important for the company in terms of digitisation and modernisation. With co-financing from LIAA, CTB implemented a project to update the management and control systems of its asphalt concrete plant, significantly improving production management and efficiency, data security, and enabling remote troubleshooting. Thanks to the state support tool, a similar automation solution will also be implemented at another company in the group – CTB BETONS, while at the holding level, LIAA support has enabled the implementation of a document management system project, which has reduced the circulation of paper documents and made daily document handling faster and more convenient.
“The most challenging steps in getting to the point of using the state support tool are the initial process, which requires time and careful preparation. However, once the project has been submitted to LIAA, everything becomes smooth and transparent: document circulation in the system is clear and understandable, and the attitude of the employees is professional. Our experience shows that any support tool really works and helps the company grow," says Gunita Laiveniece, who manages these development projects at CTB HOLDINGS.
“Undeniably, the experience I have accumulated in managing large projects also comes in handy as it allows me to understand precisely how to use state support tools effectively and integrate them into the company’s daily operations. At the same time, LIAA as an institution is very professional and open to communication, so I don’t think entrepreneurs should be afraid of support programs; any unclear issues can always be clarified, and a solution can be found for all uncertainties,” Ms Laiveniece says when asked about her recommendations to other entrepreneurs.
The group is continuing its cooperation with LIAA, and the next significant step in the implementation process will be changing the resource management and accounting system. CTB HOLDINGS is comprised of five subsidiaries, and CTB alone employs more than 300 people during the active season. Therefore, modern tools for resource and accounting management are particularly important to ensure effective process management and transparency across the entire holding.
