Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry announces an auction of intellectual property "Technology of ACTOPOL polyols synthesised from second-generation renewable resources"

Within the framework of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) research results commercialisation project No 1.2.1.2/16/I/001/ KC-PI-2020/51, scientists of the Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry (LSIWC) have developed the technology of ACTOPOL polyol technology synthesised from second-generation renewable resources, and are currently offering to purchase a licence to use this technology.

Object of commercialisation: The right to use ACTOPOL polyol technology synthesised from second-generation renewable resources.

The interested party is invited to participate in the auction by making an offer for the purchase of the technology.

The successful bidder will be the bidder with the highest bid for the auctioned item.

ACTOPOL

Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry has developed a polyol synthesis technology ACTOPOL that provides technology for acquiring autocatalytic polyols from renewable tall oil, a residue of paper pulp production. Tall oil is a second-generation renewable resource that provides an additional dimension of sustainability as this resource does not compete with food and feed production.  ACTOPOL is a bio-based polyol series, a key component in polyurethane foams, which is insulation material. Polyurethane foams are also used in cushions, mattresses, seats, and pillows. ACTOPOL offers polyols based on a renewable feedstock, possessing valuable features, including autocatalytic properties. This means that manufacturers can reduce the use of catalysts in polyurethane formulations and thus reduce volatile organic compound emissions into indoor and in-car air. ACTOPOL can reach a competitive price target compared to petroleum-derived polyols with similar properties.

The bidding application must be submitted in the form of an electronic document, signed with a secure electronic signature by 31 October 2022 at 09:00 and sent to the e-mail address kki@kki.lv, with the subject line “Bid for the auction "ACTOPOL polyol technology synthesised from second-generation renewable resources”.

Time and place of opening of bids: 31 October 2022 at 10:00, 27 Dzerbenes iela 27, Riga, Room 227.

The negotiation procedure for granting the right to use intellectual property objects at the Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry is carried out to ensure the successful commercialisation of intellectual property generated within the projects, as stipulated by the Cabinet of Ministers Regulation No 692 of 25 October 2016 "Rules for the Implementation of Measure 1.2.1.2 "Support for Improvement of the Technology Transfer System" of the Specific Support Objective 1.2.1 "Increase Private Sector Investment in R&D" of the Operational Programme "Growth and Employment""".
